From a small company to an alive and teeming community, the city of Hercules has a unique history. The history of Hercules began when a growing population of an explosive powder manufacturing company was forced to find a more rural location. When the location was found in 1879, the Hercules plant began producing its patented dynamite formulation in 1881.
California Powder Works, an explosives manufacturer, sold its dynamite called “Hercules” to showcase how potent their dynamite was. As a result of a natural choice, the plant managers named their new city “Hercules”.
The City of Hercules is located along the Western Contra Costa County and the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is home to 25,601 people with a very ethnically diverse population.
The city continued to grow throughout the 1990s. Unfortunately, the neighborhood was still disconnected. Though there were increased budget constraints, city officials were compelled to address the growing need for city services. They worked towards preserving the history of Hercules and keeping the community alive.
Legal Aid & Pro Bono Services are available in nearby counties. Some of these clinics are Contra Costa County Bar Association, Contra Costa Senior Legal Services, Legal Services of Northern California, California Lawyers for the Arts, East Bay Community Law Center, and Family and Children’s Law Center. They can help indigent families or individuals obtain legal representation in Criminal Law, Divorce, Domestic Violence, Family Law, Consumer, Health Care, Real Estate, Civil Rights, Education, Environmental and Health Care, Estate Planning, Immigration, and Bankruptcy.
Recently, a resident of Hercules, California, was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1343 and 1349. The indictment states that the defendant Sonovah Judith Hillman, 29, engaged in a “business email compromise” with her co-conspirator(s). Their scheme was to gain illegal access to the email accounts of their victims and obtain private data like bank account information and other email contents through a “phishing” scam. After the victims send funds to Hillman’s account, she transfers funds to her co-conspirator(s) and withdraws her ill-gotten money. On February 13, 2020, Hillman pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
Availing of pro bono services is a decision worth serious consideration. The legal aid services done for the public good are non-billable implying no value to the lawyers providing the service. Lawyers can turn down any potential representations that they cannot competently handle.
Hercules City residents can avail of the services of experienced legal experts in the city.
