Westminster, CA is located in Orange County, and was originally founded as a Presbyterian temperance colony by Rev. Lemuel Webber in 1870. The city was named for the Westminster Assembly of 1643, the English parliamentary committee which prescribed the basic tenets of the Presbyterian Church. Westminster formally incorporated in 1957, absorbing adjoining Barber City.
