Adams County, the fifth most populous county in the state of Colorado, is named after Alva Adams, one of the former governors of the state. Adams County is a great place to live and work, with many fantastic parks and golf courses, as well as great employment opportunities.
In the News: A group of Adams County residents recently filed a lawsuit to stop the construction of a proposed landfill near the Denver International Airport. The lawsuit claimed that developers did not considered all of the potential negative impacts the landfill would create in the area. The Adams County residents’ primary allegation was that the landfill would attract more birds to the area, which could result in more air strikes with airplanes taking off and landing at the airport. This problem gained notable attention in early 2009 when a plane taking off from New York struck a bird three minutes after take off and had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River. The Adams County residents pointed to this incident in attempting to block construction.
